About The Event
The Ministry of Planning & International Cooperation is honoured to welcome the 27th EBRD Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors and Business Forum, taking place on 9-10 May 2018, at the King Hussein bin Talal Convention Center – Managed by Hilton / Dead Sea - Jordan
The Annual Meeting is the institutional event where key decisions are taken by the 68 shareholders about the Bank’s direction. The Business Forum is a major international conference where officials are mingling with Business Guests and other Stakeholders. The event theme is ”Energising Economies” and the aim is to engage participants with informed, sometimes provocative discussion and debate on a variety of topical issues. It will involve Discussion Panels, Investment Outlook Sessions, Host Country Investment Outlook Session, Networking Events, Civil Society Programme and Events by Invitation Only.
Jordan Investment Outlook Session
Jordan: Fostering Investment, Trade and Innovation Throughout the Region and Beyond
Jordan has always been a unique country for turning challenges into opportunities; bridging three continents and being a regional and global hub for business, trade and investments. It has also been able to position itself as a regional leader in renewable energy, consulting services, the finance sector, pharmaceuticals, medical tourism and education, as well as being a leading regional capital for ICT, startups and the creative industries.
Jordan may be small, but it is rich in terms of its strategic assets and as a gateway for regional and world trade and business. Jordan constantly seeks to extend what such a gateway can provide Jordanians and their partners. Not only access to billions of consumers through multiple FTAs, but diversifying exports and partners. Not only active connections to global supply chains, but international networks that facilitate small and medium-sized enterprises through financing, partnerships and new markets.

Invest in Jordan
The Jordan Investment Commission (JIC) constitutes an embodiment of His Majesty King Abdullah II vision for economic progress as a top national priority. His Majesty the King’s directives stressed the need to continue economic restructuring and modernization programs to achieve their desired objectives. They also emphasized the need to develop effective legislation, policies and procedures that enhance the competitiveness of the national economy, attract investments, facilitate their success, and eliminate bureaucratic constraints, in order to create employment opportunities, raise growth rates, and achieve sustainable development. The priorities of JIC are to lead and stimulate investment, ensure its sustainability, and help realize its desired impact of driving economic growth and job creation. Fulfilling this function requires the Commission to develop the investment infrastructure and increase its readiness through regulatory legislation, and then to pursue well-studied steps to promote investment and exports, build local and international partnerships, and increase the effectiveness of the investment window.
